German Trips
Date: March 2007 Date: Approximately the 2nd and 3rd weeks of March Length of stay: 11 days (fly on Thursday and return on Monday) Itinerary: Fly to Graz, Austria. Day trips to Werthersee and the Austrian Open Air Museum. Vienna ? Travel to Nuernberg by Austrian Rail and German Rail tickets Stay in Nuernberg. Trips to Passau, and perhaps Rothenburg ob der Tauber, plus additional trip decided by the group. (suggested destinations: Leipzig, Wuerzburg, Bamberg, Muenchen, Ulm Travel: by Rail - Combination Twin Pass for Germany and Austria Flight: Lufthansa, from Philadelphia to Graz, and return from Nuernberg to Philadelphia. Cost: $1675.00. Includes plane fare, Austrian/German Rail ticket, both hotels, buffet breakfasts, and transfers at airports. Not included: dinner. Group size: approximately 12 to 15 participants. These trips are sponsored by the "ALTE HERREN" at the Cannstatters and are meant to offer low-cost travel to members and friends. We will stay at hotels in Graz and Nuernberg. The group can decide to rearrange the daily schedule to meet special needs. Individuals are free to travel to visit friends and/or relative while we are there. It is not expected that everyone be with the group at all times; freedom to explore is an important part of the experience. There will always be a daily group activity, which will accommodate those who wish to be with others in the group. All person wishes will be taken into consideration. Special consideration is given to those who find walking difficult. TO BE OFFERED NEXT YEAR: BEER AND WINE TRIP - in the fall. This trip in 2006 was a success and the identical experience, except for a different hotel in Bacharach, will be offered again. THE NORTH GERMAN: BERLIN AND BREMEN TRIP, with excursions to Potsdam, Leipzig, Lueberk and Rostock will also be available. This group is in Europe at the time of the printing of this announcement. German classes at the Cannstatter Volksfest Verein Date: Thursdays, until June, 2007 Classes offered: Beginners German 6:30 to 8:30 PM (may enroll at any time. Help available to catch up.) Advanced Beginners Class: 4:30 to 6:30 PM in the Board Room. Conversation, grammar, reading Intermediate/Advanced German: 6:45 to 8:45 PM. Cost: $170 for 12 weeks, 24 hours of instruction. $200 for two persons from same family. Program: This is not a strict textbook approach to learning the language. We consider personal requests and needs, introduce music and film appropriate to the course level, and even try some cooking! It is meant to emphasize useful skills for Americans and future travelers. ANYONE CAN BEGIN AT ANY TIME. WE WILL HELP YOU CATCH UP. COSTS THEN ARE PRO-RATED.
